Apple just released their new DAW suite Logic Studio which features a brand new version of Apple Logic, going to version 8, and a branch of new featured applications such as Mainstage (a live rig), Studio Instruments (virtual instruments), Studio Effects (vintage amp models and effects), Soundtrack Pro 2 and an huge sample and loops library for less then $500.
